The scholarship monies are allocated to the Board from the Alabama Education Trust Fund on a fiscal year basis (October 1 through September 30).  Due to recent changes in the law relating to nursing scholarships, we will not know the exact number of awards and the amount of each for the Fiscal Year 2012-13 until all applications are received.

During the 2012 legislative session, the legislature appropriated $166,027 of Education Trust Funds to the Alabama Board of Nursing to award as graduate nursing scholarships.  Should there be proration of the education budget during Fiscal Year 2012-13, scholarships would be affected accordingly. 

If you are interested and can meet the requirements for a graduate nursing scholarship, we encourage you to proceed with the application.  Completed applications must be received in the Board office on or before August 16, 2012 to be considered.  This includes the application form, official transcript, certification form, and proofs of Alabama residency.

The announcement of scholarship recipients will be released after the September 2012 Board meeting.
