Prior to applying for collaborative practice:
- Visit My Profile to review your information currently on record with the ABN.
- Communicate with the prospective collaborating physician.
Note: The application for approval to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Alabama is intended for completion only by the individual applying for APRN approval and should not be completed by any third party on behalf of the applicant. The application requires an attestation by the applicant as to the accuracy and completeness of the information to the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Attention: If you currently hold a valid multistate license in another Compact state, you are not required to obtain an Alabama RN or LPN license to practice nursing in Alabama, unless Alabama is your primary state of residency. However, APRNs holding RN multistate licenses in other Compact states still must apply for approval to engage in advanced practice nursing.
Temporary approval for collaborative practice will not be issued until the ABN is notified by the Board of Medical Examiners that the Commencement for Collaborative Practice form and fee has been received. [ABN Administrative Code, § 610-X-5-.04(1)(c)].
