Please be advised that the Alabama Board of Nursing does not process complaints from anonymous or deliberately misleading sources.

Please use the online complaint forms to the right.

The Alabama Board of Nursing enforces the rules and regulations found in the Nurse Practice Act and Alabama Administrative Code in order to maintain public health, safety, and welfare. Nurses are expected to practice in a safe, competent, and ethical manner. However, the following practice issues warrant notification to the ABN:

  • Unsafe to self or others; risk to patient(s) or facility
  • Substandard practice
  • Unprofessional conduct
  • Substance abuse
  • Practicing beyond scope of license held (LPN, RN, advanced practice)

When filing a complaint, please provide as much of this information as possible to assist with our investigation process: correct spelling of the nurse’s name, license number (if known), and a detailed account of the occurrence(s).
