Requirements
- Complete a new online exam application (see buttons at the right). (You are not eligible for a temporary permit.) For information about what is required on the application, see the FAQs.
- Register for NCLEX® with Pearson VUE (see buttons at the right).
- If it has been more than 12 months since you last tested, Board staff may contact you to request any additional required documentation.
Applicants who have taken NCLEX® in another state
- You must still be eligible in the State where you originally applied for licensure.
- Complete a new online exam application (see buttons at the right). (You are not eligible for a temporary permit.) For information about what is required on the application, see the FAQs.
- Complete Part I of the Out of State Repeat Examination Application Attachment (see buttons at the right).
- Contact the Board of Nursing where you originally applied for licensure by exam to see if a fee is charged for completion of the form.
- Mail the form to the Board of Nursing where you originally applied for licensure by exam who will submit the form to the ABN.
- Register for NCLEX with Pearson VUE (see buttons at the right).
- Contact your school of nursing to request that an official transcript be mailed to the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- You must complete and submit the appropriate form (see buttons at the right) and supporting documentation to the Board. For information on meeting this requirement, please refer to the Citizenship/Legal Presence FAQs.
